Verifying your website with Google also helps To get Indexed faster but does not have any affect on the rankings of your website.It's still a good idea since it will give you valuable information about your website.
You can also sign up for google analytics which gives you details on how many visits your website received, where they came from and what they did in your website. To sign up go to Google analytics.
