Webhosting Information!

Now if you want a website, you should find a Web Host. A Web host is like the brain of a website, it's where your website will be stored. You will also need a domain name, a domain name is something like a websites acess code or: "www.webinghelp.com" these are 2 things which without, you cannot have a website.

Before you chose your web host, you should first ask yourself this question:

Do i want Free or Paid Web hosting?

This is an Important Question, because there is a great big difference in paid web hosting then in free web hosting but do you need these extras?

If you making a site for your business and you need lots of features like buy online, register, apply, then you definitely need paid web hosting, even if some free hosts can be made to provide you some of these features, it won't be as reliable and friendly, and every minute your website might be down, it might lose you a customer if not 1000 customers and you surely don't want that to happen right?

Paid web hosting is not just for business, you could make a personal website or any website you like with paid web hosting, I would not recommend using a free host unless you are using it for practise or for fun.

web hosting is not too expensive, shared web hosting (which most people use) can be bought for as little as $6.95 (3.50 GBP), there are some cheaper but cheapness can lead to a lot of problems so always read reviews about a web host before actually buying it.

Note: Some reviews are fake - what I mean by that is that either they make a web host SO great you just can't wait to buy it or they make it look so bad, you don't want to look at it anymore. Best way to avoid them is to read more reviews from other sources, for my personal top 10 web hosts go to top 10 web hosts. I will be posting some reviews on some of them soon.

But remember 1 web host can be great for someone, but it could be a nightmare for you (or vice versa)!

Some stuff you should look out for when looking for a web host:

Web Space - web space is how much MB (megabytes) or GB (gigabytes) of files you can put in your website. You should look out to have at least 1GB/1000 MBs (more depending on your type of website). Even though your website might not need more than 100 MBs, it's always nice you have a bit more because you never know when you need it. A lot of Web hosts allow a lot more than that now days.

Note: Look out for web hosts that might provide you enough web space but have file limits. A file limit is how big a file can be to be uploaded and if there is 1 it will not allow you to upload a file that's bigger then that limit. Let's say there is a file limit and its set to 2Mbs, if you have a file/picture/anything else you want in your website that's bigger than 2MBs, you will not be able to upload it.

Bandwidth: bandwidth is the amount of traffic you can receive, the more visitors you expect to get the more bandwidth you will need, you should look to have at least 3gb of bandwidth just in case even if you think you will not be getting too many visitors.

Note: as with web space, even if your web hoster provides a lot of bandwidth it might have it's limits, usually, what these limits do is do not allow a single click to generate X number of bandwidth so if there is a limit and it's set to 2MBs, a single click will not be able to generate more than that. And if you have large files you want people to be able to download then you would not want these kind of limits!

Domains: A domain is the URL of a website (e.g.: www.webinghelp.com) you need a domain to have a website, some web hosts provide 1 free for life as long as it is hosted with them. If you are planning to have more than 1 website then to save you money you should look for web hosts that allow more than 1 website (if not unlimited) on 1 hosting package. These are called Addon domains, they are the same as any other domain but are controlled in the same control panel.

You should also be allowed to have subdomains (a subdomain is a domain within your primary domain -E.g.: www.subdomain.domain.com),

Parked Domains (parked domains are domains that refer to another domain, you can use them for 2 reasons, to get all the suffixes (a suffix is the .com/.net/.org of a domain) so that if I go to www.example.net, I will go to the main domain www.example.com,

Note: Another name for suffix is TLD.

Or you can use them to shorten a long domain, so if you have a domain like this: www.a-very-long-domain.com you could make a parked domain: www.avld.com so that people do not forget your website and is easier to remember.

So now that you know abit about webhosting you should read the advanced webpage(coming soon) or chose your webhost in my personal top 10 webhosts!
